Kheer Recipe

Kheer is a South Asian rice pudding made with milk and sugar. It is typically flavoured with cardamom, raisins, saffron, cashew nuts, pistachios or almonds, and is the perfect dessert for flavour experimenting. It’s aromatic fragrance is a creamy comfort to warm you up in winter.

Serves: 4-6


60g Kohinoor Extra Flavour Basmati Rice (soaked in water for 30 minutes, washed and drained)
1 cup of milk
5 green cardamoms
1/2 cup of raisins (soaked in water for 30 minutes and drained)
400g of condensed milk
1/2 cup of almonds (blanched, peeled and sliced)


  • Bring the milk to the boil
  • Add the rice and the green cardamoms
  • Cook stirring continuously, until the milk is fully absorbed and the rice is tender and broken
  • Add the raisins and condensed milk
  • Cook, stirring regularly, until the consistency is thick. The mixture should stick to the ladle at this point
  • Garnish with almonds
  • Refrigerate and serve chilled
