Formerly known as Calcutta, it is the capital of India’s West Bengal state. It’s known for its grand colonial architecture, art galleries and cultural festivals.
This delicious spicy sauce was created by the Hakka Chinese and dates to 19th Century Calcutta. Traditionally cooked with Paneer-Indian cottage cheese, using vegetables is also very popular.
A classic favourite of Indian cuisine. This spicy ‘jhal’ stir fry – ‘frezi’ was first made by Indian cooks during the British Raj. The rich blend of tomato, onion, ginger and chilli compliment chicken perfectly. Best savoured on a bed of Basmati rice.
