Staying healthy and fit this time of year is very important, so here are some tips on how to get the body you have always dreamed of right in your own home. You can get fit and healthy without spending a fortune on various memberships that you probably won’t use after a month or so, plus staying at home to get fit can save you time and up your motivation.
Running
Even though the temperature is barely above freezing at the moment, it actually makes it the perfect time to go for a run. The air is clearer, fresher and packed full of natural goodness you just won’t get at the gym. Better still, all you need is a half decent pair of trainers and you’re good to go. Just you and the fresh air with your beautiful surroundings. It’s the perfect way to get some exercise wherever you are in the world. If running isn’t your thing then maybe something a little less impacting such as yoga. Whether you are at beginner or expert level, there are videos and tutorials out there for everyone and all you need is a little bit of open space and something to watch the video on. Let the yoga masters teach you all the moves you’ll ever need in the comfort of your own home and totally free of charge. Again, yoga is also great for helping manage stress and anxiety and will help you to focus your mind and connect with your body and soul into alignment.
Hula Hooping
A new fad that seems to be hitting the UK in the last few months is this weighted hula hoops. At around £14 for a good quality weighted hula hoop, you can make exercise more fun. Depending on the space available in your home, this could also be done in your back garden. You can feel like a kid again and have some fun while you exercise. There are many videos you can watch online to teach yourself new tricks or even just to master the basic techniques. You could even add more weighted hoops to make it harder for yourself or upgrade to a heavier hoop to make it interesting.
Exercise DVDs
There are so many exercise DVD’s available to buy or to rent these days, or even to stream through your smartphone. Whether you are looking for a high impact workout or possibly something a little more easy going, there’s something for everyone. Even though the thought of doing exercise might fill you with dread, give it a go, you’ll be surprised at how much better you feel afterwards. It almost gives you a new lease of energy and a buzz that can be quite addictive. Plus, once you start to see the results, you won’t be able to stop!
